So you’ve never had a massage before? You’re not alone. It’s perfectly normal to be a bit nervous & not know what to expect. Here is a brief summary:
Please come 10 minutes early to your first session. When you arrive to my office, the door will be open & I will be there to greet you. If the door is closed, I might be finishing up with the client prior to you, so please wait outside the door in the seating area and I will be with you shortly. I will give you a health history/intake sheet to fill out. I’ll ask about the reason(s) you are coming in for a massage, your current physical condition and any specific areas in which you are experiencing pain or would like to address during your massage.
I will leave the room and wait outside so you may undress to your level of comfort. Some clients prefer to completely disrobe and others prefer to remain partially clothed. Once disrobed, you will lie under the sheets. I will give you a few minutes to get situated and knock on the door before re-entering. NOTE: You will always be draped with a sheet during your session except for the limb/area I am working on. This is a STATE LAW. This is a safe environment and I will ensure your modesty at all times.
COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY to success of your massage therapy sessions. I ask that you communicate with me throughout the session as any thoughts come to mind. I will check in with you throughout the session regarding pressure and comfort levels. If at any time you feel discomfort, the pressure is too much or you would like more pressure, please communicate those things to me so that I can change the work accordingly. I ask that you pay attention to your body and note any changes that you notice during and following your massage therapy sessions. I will keep improvement notes for each session. The table is heated though you may also request blankets added or removed, open window for fresh air or preferred music choice.
When your session is finished I will leave the room to allow you to dress. When you are finished just open the door. I will enter and you will receive bottled water, ask how you are feeling and if you have any feedback for me.
